From self-taught to deliberately formed.
I started learning technology on my own, usually by working through whichever problem interested me at the time. School adds structure, deadlines, and exposure to subjects I might not have chosen independently.
I pay for school myself while working and volunteering in my community. That makes the degree a practical commitment as much as an academic one, and it keeps me focused on where I want the education to lead.
